"Life is a voyage. I'd be glad to be your compass to a healthier life."

The story behind this

I used to have various skin problems since I was a kid. About ten years ago, I had itchy red patches all over my face. The doctor prescribed facial wash, medical cream and pills — none of them helped. Out of frustration, I decided to stop all treatment and started washing my face only with water. The irritation faded in a week and my skin restored quickly.

I was amazed by the self-healing power of the body. That moment changed everything. I began studying how to keep skin healthy through raw food and essential oils, and it led me to two larger streams — Nutrition and Aromatherapy. After formal education in both, I discovered a whole new world of health management. Instead of following hacks, I learned to listen to the inner state of my body and respond with selected food and self-care rituals.

As someone born and raised in Hong Kong, TCM's seasonal eating has always been natural to me. Growing up, I was given teas, soups, and desserts calibrated to the season. Living in Switzerland now, far from some of those ingredients, I have learned to work with what I can find — always with the nutritional facts and seasonal cycle in mind. I tried too hard to stay healthy in the past. I have learned that less is more. I do small rituals and quiet habits in a life with two children and a day job. At 45, I have never felt so fresh and alive.

What I noticed was missing

People are getting more health-conscious. They exercise, buy organic, read labels. And yet — the effort does not always pay off. Allergies, seasonal fatigue, a persistent feeling that something is missing despite doing all the right things. Many people have discovered acupuncture, cupping, or gua-sha and been fascinated by the results. But few know that in Chinese medicine, these are the last resort — not the daily practice. The daily practice is quieter. It is what you eat in October. It is the oil you diffuse on a Monday morning. It is knowing that your body already knows what season it is. That knowledge — the bridge between Eastern wisdom and Western life — was not available in a form that felt accessible, warm, and honest. That is why I started The Scented Compass.

What I believe

Eastern and Western wisdom come from the same origin — nature. In the ancient world, people everywhere extracted remedies from plants. Our ancestors understood that soul, spirit, and body are inseparable. While we pass the knowledge from one generation to the next in the East, that knowledge chain broke in the West during the scientific revolution of the 18th century. Having a scientific breakthrough does not mean we must abandon the traditions. We can complement technology with ancient wisdom, and the Western approach with that of the East.

"The best doctor prevents sickness. The second best treats it."

Aromatherapy is not a cure. It is one of the most immediate ways I know to shift how the body feels and how the mind settles. Used consistently and with knowledge, it builds the resilience to reach for medicine less often. TCM's seasonal living tells us what our body needs in each moment of the year. Nutrition connects what we eat to how we feel — not as restriction, but as ritual.

Together, these three are not separate subjects. They are one lifestyle, seen through three lenses.

Aromatherapy
Science-backed home remedies, accessible to everyone. Not a myth — not a cure. A daily practice of attentiveness.
TCM Seasons
Ancient logic made practical. Eating, living, and breathing with the rhythm of each season — all five of them.
Nourishment
Food as ritual, not restriction. Seasonal, whole, and rooted in the wisdom of two traditions.

Background
Hong Kong-born, Switzerland-based

I am not a clinician. I am a guide — someone who holds a Diploma in Clinical Aromatherapy and a foundation in nutrition, who has lived at the intersection of these traditions for over a decade, and who is honest about the difference between what I know and what needs a doctor. My words come from genuine trying, and I hope that shows.

"You do not need to overhaul your life. You just need one small ritual, one season at a time. I am here to help you find it."
